The Bronx runs from dense multi-family blocks to streets of single-family houses, so the right answer changes by neighbourhood. Sloped blocks also mean drainage has to be got right or the new concrete goes the same way as the old.
Hills, mixed housing, and no single answer
- Eligibility for the free tree programme depends on the building, and here that varies street by street.
- Hilly blocks make slope and drainage the difference between a ten-year slab and a three-year one.
- Mixed frontages often need curb and sidewalk done together rather than separately.
The work we do most across the Bronx
- Sidewalk Repair Per square foot · Permit included · 1–3 days on site
- Curbs & Edging Concrete curb · Reset or replace · Curb line to code
- Tree-Root Sidewalk Repair Parks tree-work permit · Root-safe method · Pit rebuilt
- DOT Violation Removal 75-day clock · Dismissal inspection filed · Comes off the record
Everything else we do is on the services page.
Why a sloped frontage costs more to build
The Bronx varies more than any other borough we work in. A flat residential frontage in Throgs Neck and a sloped multi-family block in Fordham are not the same job at the same rate. Slope work costs more because getting the drainage right takes longer.
What Bronx property owners ask
My block is on a hill. Does that change the repair?
My building has six units. Does the free tree programme cover me?
Do the curb and the sidewalk have to be done together?
Eligibility changes street by street here
Whether the City's free tree programme covers you depends on the building, and in the Bronx that changes street by street. A 1-3 family house may be covered while the six-unit building next door is not.
NYC sidewalk rules are set city-wide. The full set, with links to every City page they come from, is in our violation guide. Last checked .
