Why resetting granite beats buying it
Resetting existing granite is usually cheaper than replacing it, and it looks better because the stone already matches the block. New granite is the expensive option; steel-faced concrete sits between the two.
Lifting stone without breaking it
- Assess what can be saved. Granite that has only shifted is worth lifting. Granite that has split is not.
- Lift and clean. Stones come up carefully, get cleaned off and are set aside in order.
- Bed and reset to line. Reset on a fresh bed to the correct line and grade, with the joints closed properly.
- Replace only what has to be replaced. Matching stone is sourced for the sections that cannot be saved.
